$75,028.17 Gross per annum + Industry Allowance + Superannuation

(A Tool Allowance is also applicable to this position)

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Mechanic to join our team and play an important role in keeping Glenelg Shire Council’s fleet of vehicles, trucks, plant and equipment safe, reliable and ready for work.

This is a hands-on role responsible for carrying out servicing, repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance across a diverse range of Council vehicles and plant. You will work on everything from light vehicles and trucks to heavy plant and specialised equipment, helping ensure Council’s fleet is maintained to a high standard and available to support essential services across the community.

In this role you will work as part of a supportive team, using your mechanical skills and experience to diagnose faults, undertake repairs, carry out scheduled servicing and contribute to the ongoing improvement of Council’s fleet maintenance practices.

What you need to Succeed

To succeed in this position, you will be a qualified Mechanic with experience in diesel engines and a strong understanding of the servicing, maintenance and repair of vehicles, trucks, plant and equipment. You will be practical, reliable and safety focused, with the ability to work independently as well as contribute effectively to a team.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • A recognised trade qualification as a Mechanic, preferably with a Diesel Mechanic background.
  • Experience in servicing, diagnosing and repairing vehicles, trucks, plant and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Good attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • A strong focus on workplace health and safety.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A current Victorian Driver Licence, with a Heavy Vehicle Licence desirable.
