A mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical issues in machinery or mobile equipment. They use diagnostic tools and their own expertise to identify problems, and then perform repairs or replace parts as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Perform repairs or replace parts as necessary
Perform preventive maintenance and develop PM programs to keep machinery and mobile equipment running smoothly and prevent future issues
Generates work orders and closes them in operating systems
Refer to and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to understand the layout and function of various mechanical systems
Use wide range of tools, from simple wrenches and screwdrivers to more complex diagnostic equipment and power tools
May work independently or as part of a team, collaborating with other mechanics, engineers, and technicians to complete projects
Must keep work area clean and organized to ensure safety and efficiency
May be required to be on-call
Install equipment and machinery as needed.
Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Vocational or technical training certificate or associate’s degree in related field a plus
At least 1 year of experience in a relevant field
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with various levels of the organization
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Must have technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, manual dexterity, and attention to detail
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other pertinent operating systems
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
