In this role, you will perform a variety of highly skilled duties to maintain and/or repair the property of the City using a variety of machines, tools, and equipment.

Examples of Duties:

  • Maintains and repairs City vehicles and diesel equipment including garbage trucks, sweepers, scows, dump trucks, vans, pick-up trucks, sedans, boats, motorcycles, and/or and various construction equipment.
  • Diagnoses and repairs the following vehicles components; air conditioning, engine performance air/hydraulic systems, driveline systems, emission systems, etc.
  • Performs minor fabrication and welding as necessary.
  • Assists other technicians.
  • Picks up or delivers vehicles and equipment when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience with Technical School Training preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid state issued driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain Valid Commercial Driver’s Permit – Class B within 3 months of hire., and Valid Commercial Driver's License - Class B within 1 year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dealership or heavy truck shop experience.

Other Necessary Requirements:

  • In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
  • May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
