Job Location: Independent Can Co Belcamp - Belcamp, MD 21017
Salary Range: $32.00 - $38.00 Hourly
Job Shift: 3rdSUMMARY: The Mechanic repairs and maintains production machinery and mechanical equipment such as; coating lines, print lines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, skid tumbler, band saw, ovens, incinerators, and all ancillary equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be knowledgeable on all equipment in the Litho department to be able to set up, adjust, repair, and maintain the equipment within a proficient time frame
- Be knowledgeable and proficient in adjustment, repair and use of all line support equipment; such as strappers, stretch wrapper, conveyors, band saw and welding equipment
- Recommend any necessary repairs or improvements to equipment to the supervisor or manager
- Work with other Litho mechanics/electricians on major breakdowns and overhaul work
- Maintain all standard maintenance procedures with qualified log
- Keep a quantitive supply of parts available for most eventualities
- Follow company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMP’s
- Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with State and Federal laws
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: One-year certificate from a college or technical school; or minimum twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and write in English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees in the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have completed journeyman training requirement as required by the Company or similar training elsewhere. Must be certified in CPR; basic first aid and fully trained in Lockout and Tagout requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands and fingers to handle and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, and hear. The employee is sometimes required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
