TITLE: Mechanic
CLASSIFICATION: Transportation Department
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
SUMMARY:The auto mechanic will maintain school buses and other automotive vehicles to provide safe transportation and working conditions for students and employees.
10.Order and stock equipment including belts, oil filters, air filters, etc.
11.Pick-up parts.
12.Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
13.Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
14.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent. Specialized training or trade school in automotive, truck, and school bus maintenance and repair.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Arizona Class B commercial license and School Bus Drivers' certificate with good driving record.
EXPERIENCE: One to three years of experience in maintenance and repair, including engine overhaul, vehicle electrical systems, carburetor work, and brake overhaul for hydraulic and air brakes.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The working environment may include working outdoors and in shop/garage structures where fumes, vapors, grease, oil, noise, and dust is prevalent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month year, Classified Hourly Salary Schedule, employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of classified staff.

Roosevelt School District No. 66 was established in Phoenix, Arizona in 1912. The first RSD school was located south of the Phoenix City Center on the corner of what is now 7th Street and Southern Avenue.
What began as a 15-pupil district has grown into a school district serving more than 7,500 students and 1,200 employees in 20 schools, an early childhood education center and a Neighborhood Technology Resource Center. Roosevelt remains as the largest employer in South Phoenix.
