Summary

The Meal Site Manager position exists to manage the organization and activities of the local Elderly Nutrition Program at the Senior Dining Site.

Essential Duties: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Administrative duties:

  • To maintain accurate records and reports
  • Keep accurate daily attendances using congregate sign-up sheets and home delivered meal log.
  • Persons under age 60 who ate a meal are correctly identified on site sign-up sheets and home delivered meal logs.
  • Prepare accurate monthly reports on site services and activities.
  • Submit monthly reports to the office as directed by the supervisor.
  • Ensure money received at the site is counted daily by two individuals, signed off on accuracy, and deposited with the assigned local bank.
  • Ensure all congregate and home delivered customers are registered for the nutrition program on an annual basis.
  • Maintain and schedule all staff and drivers for meal site. Be first source of contact when staff or drivers call in ill.
  • In collaboration with the Lead Cook order supplies and be main source of contact for vendors.
  • Maintain good communication and be main source of contact for the Aging Unit Supervisor and serve as general site contact for the nutrition program.

To manage the Senior Dining Site:

  • Ensures the day to day operations of the meal site meets standards established by state programming, agency supervisor and primary site contact.
  • Record meal reservations and order accurate number of meals needed each day.
  • Coordinate staffing to prepare and package meals
  • Coordinate transportation for delivery of home delivered meals.
  • Plan interesting table settings to coordinate with the season of the year.
  • Plan and coordinate site activities.
  • Ensure good sanitation practices are followed throughout the day.
  • Verify food is kept at correct temperature until serving time and temperatures are taken and recorded on food temperature log.
  • Verify cleaning schedule is being followed and documented. Assist with cleaning schedule when necessary.
  • Act as site hostess by greeting customers, making announcements, and introducing new diners.
  • Contact congregate diners who are absent after previous regular attendance to assure that they are all right, and to encourage them to attend the site.
  • Verify the kitchen and dining areas are clean and.
  • Assure that the entrance to the site is free of snow and ice. Shovel snow and spread salt as needed. (Building management may also take care of ice and snow).
  • Assist with packaging of the home delivered meals, when necessary.
  • When necessary, assist with the serving of food to the congregate diners and assist those who need help.
  • Make runs to the grocery store and maintain the receipts and statements from the vendors.

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the public in a warm and courteous manner.
  • Participate as a team member to improve efficiency and cooperatively solve problems.
  • Provide needed backup to other staff members during periods of absence and during peak workloads as requested by supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with staff, peers, and upper management.
  • Adhere to department’s policy of confidentiality.

Supervisory Responsibilities: All kitchen staff and volunteer drivers.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Must have or obtain WI Food Manager Certification within 6 months of hire.

  • Utilizes office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
  • Position may require occasional travel to other County facilities, training sites, or community locations.
  • Duties may require occasional evening or weekend hours to meet business needs.

Must be able to perform the physical demands of the position, including frequent sitting, walking, standing, and manual tasks; occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds; and maintaining required vision abilities.
