Role Purpose
The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Assistant provides administrative, logistical and system tracking support to the Research, Evidence, Accountability, Learning and Monitoring (REALM) unit, with a particular focus on supporting monitoring, accountability and programme performance systems across the Country Office.
The role supports the Monitoring, Accountability and Performance (MAP) Coordinator in maintaining monitoring and accountability systems such as Indicator Performance Tracking Tables (IPTT), Quality Benchmark (QB) trackers and the Feedback and Response Mechanism (FRM) log.
The MEAL Assistant also serves as a Country Office accountability focal point for receiving and recording community feedback and complaints, ensuring issues are properly logged, documented and escalated to the MAP Coordinator or REALM Manager when required.
Working closely with the REALM team, the position supports coordination of monitoring visits, learning events and documentation processes, while maintaining organised filing systems and trackers that support programme accountability, reporting and audit readiness.
The role may also provide limited administrative and documentation support to the Research, Evaluation, Learning and Business Insight (REL&BI) Coordinator for research, learning and knowledge management activities.
This role focuses on system discipline, documentation accuracy and organisational support rather than technical MEAL analysis.
Approximately 60–80% of the position cost is recovered through project budgets supporting programme MEAL activities.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
