Job Preferred Qualifications

The Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) Manager is responsible for leading a team of Manufacturing Design Engineers to ensure the successful introduction, manufacturability, quality, and technical support of products throughout their lifecycle. This role serves as the key technical interface between Product Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customers to drive operational excellence, product quality, and continuous improvement.

The MDE Manager will oversee engineering support for camera production, root cause analysis of quality issues, design-for-manufacturing (DFM) implementation, process optimization, failure analysis, and corrective/preventive actions to achieve business, quality, and customer satisfaction objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support Leadership

  • Lead and manage the MDE team in providing manufacturing engineering support for production and new product introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex manufacturing, process, and product-related technical issues.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT) reviews with cross-functional teams.
  • Support engineering change management activities, including ECO/ECN implementation and validation.
  • Collaborate with R&D and System MDE teams to ensure product designs meet manufacturing and quality requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to production operations to minimize downtime and improve yield.
  • Support customer technical inquiries, product investigations, and engineering reviews.

Quality Control & Product Quality

  • Establish and maintain robust quality control processes to ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action processes using methodologies such as 8D.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of manufacturing defects, customer complaints, and field returns.
  • Manage product non-conformance disposition and Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
  • Monitor and improve key quality metrics, including Production yield, OOBQ, DOA and FA.

Manufacturing Process Excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, cycle time reduction, and cost optimization.
  • Develop and implement process controls, manufacturing standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Support process validation, qualification, and capability studies.
  • Lead risk assessment activities and mitigation plans for manufacturing processes and product launches.
  • Utilize data analytics and statistical tools to identify improvement opportunities.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Manufacturing Design Engineers and technical specialists.
  • Establish performance objectives and support career development planning.
  • Foster a culture of quality, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support recruiting, training, and succession planning initiatives.

Customer & Supplier Interface

  • Participate in customer audits, quality reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve technical and quality issues.
  • Support supplier qualification, performance monitoring, and quality improvement programs.
  • Represent manufacturing engineering in customer and executive reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree or above in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, including 3+ years of experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of TDI camera or PMT camera products.
  • Great human management solf skill and presentation skills.
  • Good planning skill and strong execution capabilities.
