Through the teaching, support, direction and guidance of the nursing staff, ensures that residents in the AL and receive their medications as ordered by the health care provider accurately and appropriately.
Checks and restocks medicine supplies as needed on Medication cart.
Prepares documentation for resident to take to all health care visits.
Performs and monitors daily charting on residents and assists with chart maintenance.
Provides necessary information regarding residents prior to service plan or may participate in service plans as needed.
Orders medications
Monitors daily medication sheets and reports medication errors to the Health Services Manager and Administrator.
Acts as the Lead Employee when the management team is not in the facility.
Performs daily: shift change communicating new move ins, move outs, residents' special needs, coverage, alert charting, CBGs, insulins, and other relevant information pertaining to residents, housekeeping, activities, food services, nursing ensuring quality of service delivery.
Participates in staff training and development.
In coordination with Administrator, Health Services Director, and Health Services Manager, follows up to ensure appropriate documentation on charts and performs chart audit ensuring effective filing.
Ensures proper safety practices and assists in monitoring accidents and incidents and assists RCC’s with putting immediate interventions in place.
Assists the administrator with quality improvement reports and programs as assigned.
Fosters an attitude of respect for the elderly, supervision and for peers.
Creates an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest.  Promotes a calm, tranquil environment throughout the facility.
Maintains required certifications in accordance with State and facility standards.
Attends and completes all required training in accordance with State and facility standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Other Duties:
Encourage residents to take an active part in the community and embrace all programs.
Assist residents in determining the level and quantity of activity.
Attend in-service training and education sessions, as assigned. Must be CPR, AED and First Aid certified.
Properly use the community logo according to the Logo Usage Guidelines and consistently with community branding.
Be available and actively engage in support of community needs in times of emergency situations and perform duties as assigned.
Perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director and Administrator.
Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older.
One year elderly experience is preferred but not required.
Must have adequate reading and writing skills as well as verbal communication skills to perform the required documentation & reporting duties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; may be exposed to blood and body fluids which may contain HIV and/or HBV; must be able to transport residents via wheelchair, gerichair or shower chair, pushing up to 150 lbs. unassisted.  Must be able to transfer, lift, turn and position a resident weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs..  Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, squat, stand, and walk for up to 90% of the work day.  May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
