Outwood Academy Redcar is looking to appoint a driven and skilled professional as a Teacher of Mathematics. We are seeking someone passionate about the subject with a strong desire to help all children see and appreciate the value of maths. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced colleague or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) who really wants to make a difference to the lives of young people.
Outwood Academy Redcar is a forward-thinking 11-16 academy located in the scenic coastal town of Redcar. We are proud to be a pilot school for the OGAT Inclusive Classroom initiative, placing us at the forefront of inclusive practice.
We believe inclusion is a fundamental right, not a 'bolt-on'. We have invested in creating a 'low-arousal' environment—characterised by clutter-free classrooms and calming aesthetics—to ensure every student can focus and thrive. Our strategies are evidence-based and developed in partnership with educational psychologists, ensuring you have the expert backing and a calm environment to support every child in your classroom.
Welcome to Outwood Academy Redcar, located in the heart of Redcar, a vibrant coastal town in the beautiful region of the North East.
As Principal, I am immensely proud of our academy’s commitment to fostering a nurturing and challenging environment where every student can thrive. We are a community dedicated to the Outwood Grange Academies Trust’s core principle of ‘Students First,’ and we are constantly striving to raise standards and unlock the potential within each of our young people. Central to everything we do is our commitment to break down barriers to success, unlocking the true potential within our young people and creating an inclusive culture where everyone, regardless of background or ability, feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
We are seeking exceptional individuals to join our team of dedicated and passionate staff, professionals who share our passion for education and our unwavering belief in the power of transforming lives. If you are driven, dedicated, and eager to contribute to a school where you can truly make a difference, I invite you to explore the opportunities outlined within this advert. We look forward to welcoming you to Outwood Academy Redcar and the Outwood Family of schools.
You will be joining an enthusiastic and energetic maths department, well-equipped with interactive TVs and visualisers in each classroom. The department operates out of seven classrooms based in a dedicated maths wing.
We also offer a comprehensive co-curricular programme, encompassing activities such as a thriving Axiom Maths Circle, the Outwood Maths Masters programme, and engagement in national competitions including the UKMT Maths Challenges. We value teachers with the skills and passion to teach high-ability students, and for the correct candidate, this role offers significant opportunities to lead in these areas.
At Outwood Academy Redcar, you are uniquely positioned to benefit from the Outwood Institute of Education (OIE), which is hosted directly on-site.
We view this role as a foundation for your growth, offering general teacher professional development that goes beyond formal training. Through the OIE and the Trust’s infrastructure, your professional development will include:

Applicants must hold UK QTS. If trained overseas, you must have the relevant evidence that your qualification equates to UK QTS.
If you are an excellent teacher ready to work as part of a supportive team and help drive a department to success, we would welcome your application.

This professional must be aware of strategies available for improving the learning and achievement of all students, alongside possessing a good understanding of curriculum developments within their specific subject area.
