MATH TEACHER (MEDICAL LEAVE JANUARY -APRIL 2027)
Job Title: High School Mathematics Teacher
The Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, rigorous, and student-centered mathematics instruction to high school students. This teacher fosters critical thinking, logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and mathematical fluency in alignment with district curriculum goals and the Illinois Learning Standards for Mathematics (incorporating the Common Core State Standards).
Design and implement standards-based curriculum and daily lesson plans across mathematics courses (e.g., Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics) in accordance with Illinois Learning Standards and district policies.
Assess mathematical understanding, procedural fluency, and problem-solving abilities using a variety of formative and summative tools, providing timely and constructive feedback to support academic growth.
Create a positive, structured, and collaborative classroom environment that encourages mathematical discourse, inquiry, and confidence in problem-solving.
Collaborate regularly with Math Department colleagues, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and student support teams to align curriculum, analyze student performance data, and refine instructional strategies.
Utilize evidence-based mathematical practices, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including English Learners (EL) and students with IEPs or 504 plans.
Supervise students across all instructional settings, including classrooms, math labs, and common school areas.
Integrate educational technology seamlessly into instruction�including graphing calculators, dynamic geometry software, and online learning platforms�to enhance concept visualization and analytical skills.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of attendance, grades, and student academic progress in accordance with district guidelines and deadlines.
Communicate proactively and professionally with parents, guardians, and support staff regarding student performance, progress, and classroom expectations.
Attend all required department meetings, schoolwide professional development, institute days, and parent-teacher conferences.
Complete all mandatory annual state and district trainings (e.g., Mandated Reporter, Faith's Law, implicit bias, CPR/AED, etc.) per district policy and Illinois law.
Stay current with developments in mathematics pedagogy, STEM integration, and instructional technology.
Support and encourage student engagement in school culture, with opportunities to advise co-curricular activities (e.g., Math Team, Scholastic Bowl, Robotics Club, or student clubs) or coach athletic programs.
Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Secondary (Grades 9�12) Mathematics endorsement.
Strong content knowledge in foundational and advanced mathematics, including algebra, geometry, functions, statistics, and calculus concepts.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, staff, and administration in a team-oriented high school setting.
Thorough understanding of differentiated instruction, trauma-informed practices, and equitable learning strategies for diverse student populations.
Commitment to continuous professional growth, reflective practice, and the integration of innovative teaching methodologies.
All employees must adhere to District 218 Board Policy, administrative procedures, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and all relevant Illinois laws, including teacher evaluation protocols under the Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) and all state-mandated training requirements.

Salary:. Compensation is at the daily rate of $125.00 for 5.5 periods for 20 consecutive days. On the 21st day of subbing, you are compensated as long term subs which is $317.41 daily rate.

The Adult Transition Program serves 18-22 year old adults with disabilities. Driven by individual student transition plans, this program offers academic, vocational, and functional supports in order to prepare the students for the next phase of their adult lives. The Adult Transition Program partners with community agencies to offer our students a wide variety of social, vocational, and recreational experiences.
