The High School Mathematics Teacher will provide comprehensive, standards-based instruction to students in grades 9-12. The successful candidate will implement programs of study that ensure students master state learning objectives, while maintaining a classroom climate highly conducive to learning.

Core Performance Responsibilities

  • Instructional Management: Implement West Virginia College- and Career-Readiness Standards as presented in WV Board of Education Policy 2520.2B. Utilize modern data-driven models to optimize student learning progress.
  • Student Evaluation: Regularly monitor and assess student mastery of objectives using both formative and summative tools.
  • Classroom Environment: Foster an inclusive, safe, and positive student-centered learning environment.
  • Communication: Maintain clear, consistent, and professional contact with parents, community stakeholders, and school administration.
  • Professional Standards: Participate in county-level professional development and fulfill any additional co-curricular duties assigned by the principal.

Qualification & Licensure Requirements

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Certification: Must hold or be eligible for a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Mathematics (grades 5-12 or 9-12) (Endorsement Code: 1900).
  • Testing Requirements: Successful completion of all state-required ETS Praxis exams for secondary math content and pedagogy.

* Applicants who do not currently hold a professional certificate may be considered if they meet the criteria for a First-Class Permit, Teacher-in-Residence program, or a state-approved Alternative Certification program (requiring a relevant bachelor's degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA)

Compensation
Salary based on experience and education level per Clay County Board of Education Salary Schedule, plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
