Course: Mathematics for the Secondary Educator

This course examines the core concepts of algebra and geometry, with a focus on the individual and interrelated elements, for the purpose of understanding their meaning, expression, and interaction. Therefore, course activities require clearly demonstrating an understanding of the meaning of these concepts with regards to secondary education in both verbal and written form.

What You Will Do:

  • Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions
  • Engage students in learning course objectives and topics
  • Assess student performance and mentor success in the classroom
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University

What You Will Bring:

  • Preferred: PhD inMathematics OR
    • Statistics OR
    • Closely related field with high school or post-secondary teaching experience
  • Minimum: Master’sin Mathematics OR
    • Statistics OR
    • Closely related field which requires calculus or above, or statistics coursework, such as Physics and Engineering
  • Candidates with a Master's degree in any discipline and 3-5 years of experience teaching high school or post-secondary applied mathematics may also be considered
