Job Description

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Materials Specialist (South) in our Pewaukee, Wisconsin location. This position is represented by Local 2150.

The Material Specialist is responsible for warehouse activities within a distribution center as well as at remote warehouses. This position offers a variety of work that will appeal to those that are interested in learning, problem solving, able to work within a team environment, and are willing to take initiative.


Pay & Benefits:


Pay Range: $23.86 - $39.65 and offers regular increases per the bargaining agreement.

Hours: This is a 2nd shift shift position: 3:30 pm – 12:00 am

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties related to warehouse and storage yard operations
  • Fulfill daily orders, receive, put away, restock and disburse materials utilizing the current ERP system
  • Pre-load/stage material. Inspect trailers for correct loading procedures
  • Requisition and assist with procurement process when necessary
  • Recognize and report damage and/or incorrect shipment of material
  • Evaluate, prepare and account for returned materials including jobsite and field returns
  • Identify and reclaim materials fit to be returned to stock or scrapped, sold or another means of disposition
  • Assist with inventory accuracy
  • Conducts physical inventory counts
  • Resolve problems with storage locations and labeling
  • Initiate, investigate, verify, report and correct discrepancies
  • Assist the Materials Management group in maintaining adequate inventory levels
  • Ensure material shelf life is regularly updated
  • Maintain records
  • Ensure proper accounting is applied to all transactions
  • Perform required housekeeping tasks. Keep storage areas clean and in an orderly condition
  • Inspect for improper storage of material and remedy problem situations promptly
  • Identify unsafe conditions and promptly initiate action to correct the situation
  • Operate and inspect a variety of material handling equipment including but not limited to forklifts, and CDL rated vehicles
  • Incorporate safe handling techniques for oversized, heavy and/or unique materials
  • Know and follow all DOT rules and regulations
  • Provide onsite customer service

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of warehouse and powered industrial truck experience or an Order Picker with greater than one year of experience required.
  • Applicant must have a valid driver's license and meet the company's requirements for driving. Some business units will require selected applicants to obtain an interstate commercial driver's license (CDL, Class B) within 90 days of entry into the job.
  • This position may require unescorted access to certain critical cyber assets which would require applicants to satisfy all Company and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard 004 security requirements, which includes a background investigation
  • Candidates may be required to demonstrate their ability to perform the physical functions of the position by completing a Physical Capacity Evaluation

Testing requirements

Stores Aptitude (STRS): Ability to understand mechanic concepts; ability to visualize forms in space; ability to compare details and identify whether the same or different.

Materials Specialist & Storeroom Structured Interview (MATL-STRS): Competencies include: Decision Making; Building Customer Loyalty; Managing Work; Safety Awareness; Work Standards; Communication.

Minimum Posting Range: $23.86

Maximum Posting Range: $39.65

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
