About the Role

The Continuous Improvement Materials Specialist plays a crucial role in optimizing the organization's materials management processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall performance. This role involves analyzing and optimizing the flow of materials within the organization, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance materials management processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of existing processes, workflows, and systems to identify areas for improvement. Utilize tools like Lean Six Sigma, process mapping, and data analysis to pinpoint inefficiencies.

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze data related to key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of current processes. Use data-driven insights to propose improvements.

  • Problem Solving: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems, root causes, and bottlenecks that hinder productivity and quality.

  • Training and Education: Provide training and workshops to employees at all levels on continuous improvement methodologies and best practices. Foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.

  • Change Management: Support change initiatives by helping teams adapt to new processes and technologies. Address resistance to change and ensure smooth transitions.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including operations, quality, and supply chain, to align improvement efforts with organizational goals.

  • Cost Reduction: Identify cost-saving opportunities in materials sourcing, handling, and storage.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 3+ years of experience with continuous improvement in a materials planning environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background of leading materials in a high-volume manufacturing setting

  • Ability to make suggestions and informed decisions quickly

  • Possess strong organizational, leadership and time management skills

  • Highly motivated and possesses superior follow-up and follow-through skills

  • Able to motivate and lead employees

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Able to learn and use software applications including Outlook, Excel, TMS and Word

  • Must be willing to work first or second shift as well as required overtime
