Where is the work:

On-Site (5 days)

The Materials & SIOP Leader will be responsible for leading the materials transformation for the SBU inclusive of all manufacturing and distribution operations. They will interact with plant and materials managers, as well as their direct reports in improving the materials & SIOP management systems to meet cash flow targets and to improve customer service. Key performance indicators for this position will include inventory turns, shipping on time to requested date, order fill rate, and days past due.

This position has flexibility to be located at one of our multiple North-America manufacturing sites or headquarters in Davidson, NC. Preferred locations are Davidson, NC, Bloomington, MN, Greenville, SC, Hastings, NE, Arecibo, PR, Noblesville, IN, Fremont, Ohio or York, PA

***This role requires travel up to 50–75% of the time.***

Responsibilities:

· Lead the maturity and deployment of the SBU Materials / SIOP Management System, including coaching, training, and implementation of Business Operating System standards across sites.

· Partner with plant materials, operations, and supply chain teams to design and execute inventory reduction strategies that improve inventory turns, reduce working capital, and enhance customer service performance.

· Architect and implement lean material flow solutions, including pull systems, supermarkets, kanban, point-of-use inventory, sequenced delivery, and kitting strategies.

· Support plant Value Stream Analysis and Operational Excellence transformation efforts with a primary focus on end-to-end material flow optimization, Plan for Every Part (PFEP) execution in support of achieving one-piece flow and line-side replenishment success.

· Lead management system for materials to identify and eliminate material flow constraints that impact TAKT attainment, schedule adherence, inventory turns, and on-time shipping performance through structured problem solving and root cause analysis.

· Lead cross-functional initiatives to redesign warehouse-to-line and supplier-to-line replenishment models that reduce waste, shortages, expedites, and excess inventory.

· Establish, monitor, and drive accountability for key materials performance metrics, including inventory turns, material shortages, premium freight, on-time delivery, schedule attainment, and working capital performance.

· Standardize and share best practices across facilities, ensuring successful lean materials solutions are replicated and sustained throughout the SBU.

· Serve as the materials management subject matter expert for SBU and enterprise initiatives, representing business requirements, assessing impacts, and ensuring projects align with lean operating models and SBU strategy.

· Coach and develop plant materials leaders in lean principles, transformation methods, and daily management practices to sustain improvements and build organizational capability

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain or business. MBA desirable.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in materials management, operations, supply chain planning, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Operational continuous improvement (i.e. six sigma and/or lean manufacturing).

PREFERRED

  • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).
  • Proven experience leading lean materials transformation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success implementing pull systems, one-piece flow, sequenced kitting, kanban, supermarkets, and other material flow solutions.
  • Track record of improving inventory turns, reducing shortages, and increasing service levels through process redesign.
  • Experience in value stream transformation and partnering closely with operations, production, planning, and procurement teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, change management, and influencing skills across multiple sites and functions.
  • Ability to translate lean principles into scalable, sustainable materials management systems
  • Ability to lead a team, build and develop capability and influence others

  • In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution) and a superior understanding of manufacturing material flow in a plant.

  • Must have proven and solid interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with various departments throughout the organization.
  • Must be a flexible, decisive and proactive problem solver.
  • Must know how to influence bottom line results.
  • Must be a strong communicator and possess strong organizational skills, with ability to work on multiple priorities at once.
  • Must be able to work well in high pressure, fast-paced environment and be proficient at conflict resolution.
  • Must be proficient in information technology systems utilized in Materials Management.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:

$137,800.00 - $227,430.00
