Job Description

The Quality Leader is responsible for the successful deployment of the Built-In Quality (BiQ) Playbook across value stream warehouses. Built-In Quality is a systematic approach designed to improve quality and optimize efficiency by minimizing waste and maximizing value for the customer.
This role serves as a technical partner to warehouse operations, ensuring that all material handling and storage processes are robust, compliant, and error-proofed. The Quality Leader will lead nonconformance response and resolution activities, including NCR investigations, structured problem solving, Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes, and the use of CIMs, RCAs, and PSRs to eliminate recurrence and improve process capability. You will be the primary driver of quality rigor at the point of activity, fostering a culture of "Zero Defects" and continuous improvement. Success in this role relies on collaborating effectively across supply chain, operations, repair, engineering, and shop teams to drive disciplined, high-quality execution.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • BiQ Playbook Deployment: Drive the end-to-end implementation of the BiQ Playbook within warehouse operations. Translate strategic quality requirements into clear, executable standard work for logistics and inventory teams to ensure process consistency. Lead the deployment of the 15 core elements of the BiQ Playbook across all assigned warehouses. Ensure each element is fully integrated into daily operations and monitor their effectiveness to guarantee that the framework is not only implemented but consistently operational and delivering intended results.
  • Audit Management: Conduct regular quality audits to verify compliance with internal standards and the BiQ framework. Identify process gaps, document findings, and drive the necessary corrective actions to maintain high levels of operational maturity and audit readiness.
  • Quality Gate Management: Establish and oversee critical Quality Gates within the material flow. Ensure that every transaction—from receiving and picking to packing and shipping—is verified against standard criteria to prevent quality escapes.
  • NCR Investigations & RCA: Manage the triage and investigation of Non-Conformances (NCRs) within the assigned value streams. Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities to identify systemic failures and implement sustainable solutions, moving beyond containment to permanent process improvements.
  • Zero Defect Initiatives: Partner with cross-functional warehouse teams to reduce scrap and rework. Utilize operational metrics to identify trend-based risks and prioritize improvement projects that enhance "First-Time Quality."
  • Operational Training & Culture: Act as a technical quality coach on the shop floor. Train warehouse personnel on BiQ methodologies and ensure that quality ownership is embedded at every level of the material handling process.
  • Lead rigorous root cause investigations for warehouse quality escapes such as damage, wrong part, incomplete material, or shipping discrepancies, driving sustainable Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
  • Analyze quality trends and performance metrics to identify systemic risks, reporting findings to leadership to drive data-based improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate quality guidance and training for warehouse personnel promoting an SQDC culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the operation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Proven experience in a quality or operations-focused role within a manufacturing or logistics setting.
  • Strong practical knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, RCA, 5-Why).
  • Experience with ERP systems and warehouse management platforms.
  • Ability to translate complex quality requirements into simple, actionable process instructions.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, Lean principles, corrective action processes, and nonconformance management.

Desired Characteristics

  • Direct experience implementing Built-In Quality (BiQ) or Lean manufacturing frameworks.
  • Strong capability to influence change without direct authority in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze operational performance and turn findings into improvement actions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead training sessions and facilitate collaborative meetings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a "Zero Defect" mindset and proactive risk identification.
  • Experience leading audits and managing CAPA systems.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience
