Job Description

Aim Of Function:

Ensure the compliance of existing raw materials to established regulatory, statutory and quality requirements of the company and its customers.

Contributes to the company’s initiatives to qualify potential alternative or substitute materials of same functionality from alternative vendors through review of technical documents and conduct of direct product application test (1:1 substitution only).

Adheres to the approved Key Performance Indicators (KPI) targets in the performance of assigned tasks.

Main Duties

Maintenance of Existing Material

  1. Maintain and updates Raw Material Specification Sheets (RMSS), ensuring accuracy and completeness
  2. Coordinates with QA/Procurement on technical documents that requires updating like expired certifications, new regulatory and statutory requirements, updated technical data sheet, etc.

Alternative Material Qualification

  1. Review and assess acceptability of alternative material documents and collaborates with Procurement on the completion of requirements
  2. Coordinates with QA and process the request for analysis (e.g. physico chem, micro and other tests) based on the required test parameters
  3. Conduct sensory evaluation and product application for alternative material, as applicable.
  4. Send out samples to third party laboratory for parameters as applicable
  5. Conduct risk assessment based on applicable regulatory, statutory, food safety, quality and customer references and requirements.
  6. Prepare raw material specification sheet for alternative material including updating of existing material.
  7. Monitor production batch trial run as result of alternative material use.
  8. Prepare report for the alternative material from qualification up to commercialization

Administrative Function and Other Duties

  1. Process GAPIM PO for supplies, calibration and third-party testing
  2. Sends out equipment for calibration and monitors return of borrowed equipment
  3. Prepares documents for export sample submission
  4. Ensures compliance with applicable manuals, procedures, guidelines, test methods and work instructions related to Material Qualification.
  5. Monitors KPI of self and reports updates to the SAP Documentation and Materials Qualification Supervisor
  6. Updates documented information related to Material Qualification - policy, manual, procedure, test method, work instruction, etc.
  7. Supports requests for information from internal and external contacts according to corporate policies and procedures.
  8. Provides technical assistance to other departments and sections on quality and process improvements with relation to Material Qualification
  9. Participates in meetings, trainings, conferences and local associations related to the job function.
  10. Performs other duties and tasks as management deems necessary to support the company’s business objectives

Education & Job Requirements:

  1. Graduate of BS Food Technology, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or any science-related courses
  2. At least one year experience in product application and/or sensory evaluation
  3. Has at least attended training on the following – Halal, FSMS ISO22000 or FSSC, ISO 9001, Internal Quality Audit (IQA), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), GLP, and GMP.
  4. Ability to work with changing priorities.
  5. A detail-oriented individual who can work independently and exercise sound judgment doing the assigned tasks on hand.
  6. Excellent organizational and time management skills
  7. Strong attention to details
  8. Good communication and interpersonal skills
