Responsibilities may include work around active construction operations and construction materials testing activities, with adherence to applicable safety requirements.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, forecasts, risk, quality, and project controls for construction materials engineering assignments.
  • Partner with the client or NAM to define scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and success criteria, then develop and communicate the project execution plan.
  • Monitor progress and performance, identify emerging issues, and implement timely corrective actions to minimize delays and cost impacts.
  • Lead safety planning and compliance, including pre-task planning, hazard awareness, field coordination, inspections, and reinforcement of project-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, laboratories, field technicians, and other project personnel throughout delivery.
  • Direct and support construction materials testing and inspection activities involving soils, concrete, asphalt, reinforcing steel, anchors, deep foundations, and related field or laboratory documentation, as applicable.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, procurement, change orders, contract administration, project documentation, turnover, and closeout.
  • Identify and secure the staff, equipment, laboratories, specialty resources, and external contractors required to complete the work.
  • Set priorities, assign tasks, coordinate field and office resources, and track progress toward project targets and milestones.
  • Lead project meetings and prepare clear reports on status, financial performance, risks, quality issues, decisions, and required actions.
  • Coordinate with the APR to establish appropriate oversight and allow sufficient review time at critical junctures.
  • Coordinate with accounting on financial reporting, invoicing, cost control, change management, collections, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Maintain awareness of project-related risk and company risk policies, including conditions that could affect safety, quality, schedule, cost, or client commitments.
  • Promote continuous quality improvement and consistent standards in field services, technical documentation, project delivery, and proposals.
  • Communicate proactively with clients and stakeholders and deliver work products that satisfy contracted requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practices by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years’ related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with project controls, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, change management, contract administration, and project closeout.
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary stakeholders, subcontractors, field personnel, and technical resources.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety, quality practices, field documentation, and risk management.
  • A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on construction materials testing or inspection experience involving soils, concrete, asphalt, reinforcing steel, anchors, foundations, or related services.
  • Project leadership experience on commercial, industrial, education, federal, infrastructure, public works, or renovation projects.
