Job Description
The Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring the availability of materials required to support manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and site operations. This position owns material planning activities, inventory optimization, shortage prevention, and planning system health to ensure operational continuity and minimize supply risk.
Material Planning & Inventory Management
- Manage assigned material portfolios and ensure sufficient inventory to support business requirements.
- Maintain and optimize planning parameters including Min/Max levels, safety stock, reorder points, and lead times.
- Review planning signals and execute appropriate actions to maintain inventory health.
- Monitor inventory levels and proactively identify potential shortages or excess inventory.
- Develop recovery plans for material shortages and drive actions to prevent stock-out events.
- Support inventory accuracy initiatives and material disposition activities.
- Participate in regular inventory reviews and continuous improvement activities.
Operational Support
- Partner with engineering, maintenance, operations, and warehouse teams to understand material requirements and changing business needs.
- Support new material introductions, engineering changes, and inventory transitions.
- Ensure timely processing of planning actions and material replenishment requests.
- Monitor material demand trends and adjust planning strategies as necessary.
- Support critical spare parts and consumable inventory management programs.
Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze inventory, demand, and supply data to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Utilize ERP and reporting tools to monitor key planning metrics.
- Support root cause investigations related to material shortages, inventory issues, and planning process gaps.
- Drive improvements to planning processes, tools, and reporting capabilities.
- Develop and maintain planning documentation and work instructions as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in materials planning, inventory management, production planning, or supply chain operations.
- Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in semiconductor, electronics, manufacturing, or high-tech industries.
- Knowledge of inventory management methodologies, including Min/Max planning and safety stock management.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Salary: onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is$57,400 to $100,200 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of the internal equity of our current team members.
