Overall Responsibility:

The Material Planner plans coils and processed material to support production while minimizing cost and maintaining supply reliability. Confirm the availability of all required materials to support manufacturing plans, coordinate the release of inbound raw materials and components, and maintain adequate inventory levels to fulfill production requirements.

Accountabilities:

  • Reviews Master Data accuracy of all Manufactured and Purchased parts to ensure correct ordering and inventory parameters are maintained.
  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls activities related to the Production schedules.
  • Forecasting/MRP; reconcile OEM releases.
  • Place/manage coil orders with mills/processors. Negotiate & booke window times with mills
  • Match gauge/spec to dies; verify slit/processing, track burn rate; adjust safety stocks
  • Supplier OTIF/quality management
  • Co-ordinate and monitor inventory levels (including consigned material) according to production schedule.
  • Maintain and reconcile offsite (O/P) inventory including entering OP receiving and production reports.
  • Audit receiving reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • General receiving administrations - verify all ASN’s received by Shipper/Receiver and address any discrepancies.
  • Assist the Engineering Department with maintaining accurate prototype material inventory and planning incoming prototype material and production with Materials Supervisor.
  • Provide training to co-workers and help maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices and Job Safe Practices to ensure the transfer of knowledge to others.
  • Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the Canadian HSE Management Standards, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 Management Systems.
  • Ensure QMS conforms to the requirements identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities as identified in the Employee Handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in materials/logistics or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 Years Relevant Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel)

  • Experience working with AS400 systems or other relevant MRP system.

  • Advanced knowledge of inventory management skills and practices is required.

  • Negotiation skills are preferred

  • MRP & MRP Skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • High degree of integrity

  • Proven ability to achieve results

  • Detail oriented

  • Proactive in learning and development activities

  • Proven ability to work with and develop people
