Our Defense team in Salt Lake City, UT, is eagerly looking for a Materials Manager to join their dynamic team. Moog Space & Defense is seeking an experienced Materials Manager to lead production control and materials management activities supporting operations in Salt Lake City, UT. This role is responsible for overseeing material handlers, ensuring efficient material flow, inventory accuracy, production order management, and on-time delivery performance. The Materials Manager will partner closely with Supply Chain and Operations, to optimize inventory levels, support customer commitments, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain the integrity of ERP system data. The ideal candidate brings a bachelor’s degree, experience in materials management, supply chain, or operations, proven leadership capabilities, strong ERP system knowledge, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting critical defense and space programs.

Additionally, the role requires strong cross-functional collaboration, providing clear updates on investigation findings, hardware impacts, and recommended paths forward to ensure product quality, reliability, and on-time delivery.

This is an on-site, collaborative working environment that offers a 9/80 schedule to include every other Friday off! (Formal schedule is M-Th, 7:00am – 4:30pm, every other Fri 7:00am – 3:30pm)

As our Materials Manager, you will add incredible value to the team by holding responsibility for:

  • Lead material handling functions for all Value Streams

  • Supervise material handlers, shipping and receiving clerks and other roles as assigned.

  • Maintain adequate oversight on timely issuance of production orders, material movement/flow through the plant in support of the overall OTS KPI.

  • Ensures accurate inventory transactions to include cycle counting

  • Communicate and Coordinate between different functions and levels with stakeholders

  • Analyze system data to ensure production orders are effectively opened and cancelled or closed on a regular basis.

  • Prioritize work for the team in full support of the Production Plan.

  • Lead conflict resolution within, as well as external to materials team.

  • Provides active feedback while identifying areas to train and/or improvement for the materials team.

  • Drive a Continuous Improvement Culture for workflows and processes & procedures.

  • Other duties as needed / assigned.

  • Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to optimize part settings to drive right levels of inventory, and support customer delivery commitments.

  • Investigate and resolve inconsistencies with inventory

  • Assure the accuracy and integrity of the data in the computer-based materials system by maintaining appropriate control procedures within the department and by supporting efforts of other departments to maintain the database.

To be considered for this Materials Manager role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline.

  • 5-Years in Materials Management or Supply Chain or Operations.

  • 2-Years leadership or supervision experience

  • Experience working in an ERP system

  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-based skills.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience with physical inventory movement (forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.)

  • Experience with implementing automated storage and picking solutions

  • Forklift Experience

  • Experience working in an AS9100 Aerospace/Defense environment

  • Basic understanding of FAR/DFARS

Salary Range Transparency:

Salt Lake City, UT $80,000.00–$100,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
