Responsible for receiving, verifying, and inspecting incoming materials, supplies, and equipment. Places shipments into inventory and coordinates return. Responsible for keying and distributing supplies throughout the organization. Reviews and maintains supply levels and conducts inventory.
Essential Job Functions
- Receives shipments on the dock and transfers shipments into the receiving area and inventory storage area.
- Maintains open communication within the department and with distributors in order to prevent and resolve issues as they arise.
- Operates shipment transportation equipment, such as pallet jacks and carts, carefully and safely. Remains aware of safety hazard potential in parking and moving stock throughout the organization.
- Inputs received shipments into the materials management system.
- Maintains current knowledge of inventory stock, item location, and assists in rotating stock.
- Organizes and delivers shipments to the necessary departments in an efficient manner.
- Prioritizes deliveries to keep shipment delivery schedule running smoothly.
- Obtains needed signatures from distributors on the original delivery ticket.
- Collects returns and prepares them for same day shipment whenever possible.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Ensures the shipment dock is clear of shipments, pallets, and trash.
- Communicates with vendors about order discrepancies, including short ships, over shipments, and incorrect shipments.
- Communicates issues and suggests improvements to the Director in a professional manner.
- Follows all department and organizational policies and procedures and industry standard for infection control, storage requirements, and product safety protocol.
- Reviews storeroom minimum and maximum levels according to a schedule and places orders accordingly.
- Ensures point of use systems have appropriate bar codes.
- Rotates stock in point of use areas and storeroom to ensure items out of date and older items are utilized first.
- Assists staff throughout the organization with problems questions and concerns.
- Inventories stock according to a scheduled timetable and reports discrepancies to the director.
- Handles outdates items and wasted supplies according to hospital and vendor standards.
- Performs quality assurance random checks in department supply stock.
- Handles emergency supply situations.
- Adequately perform other duties as deemed necessary for the continued viability and success of the department and organization as a whole.

Requirements
Education
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
Experience
- 1-2 years’ experience materials management/supply chain experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of hospital related products preferred.
Computer Skills
- Basic Computer proficiency
