PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for the Procurement and Materials Management Organization, including Receiving, Inventory Control, Direct Procurement and Warehousing programs within the Cedar Falls Operations team to ensure the efficient delivery and flow of materials meet internal & external customer demands, while optimizing material flow, costs, continuous improvement strategies and minimizing waste. The Materials Management & Procurement Director will be responsible for driving team accountability to ensure achievement of key metrics including safety, inventory accuracy, cost, delivery, space optimization, and employee engagement.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize operations and material flow, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Lead organization to ensure planning, inventory, receiving and order processing is done timely, accurately and aligns to the overall business goals. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and coordinates activities of other personnel.
  • Oversee the entire material flow process, from procurement to stockroom, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of goods and services
  • Manage the procurement of direct components and finished goods.
  • Build productive working relationships internally and externally. Represents organization on specific projects.
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance cost and customer service, ensuring timely availability of products.
  • Oversee the material flow operation related to movement of goods, including supplier transportation, warehousing, and material distribution to internal customers.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance materials and supply chain performance.
  • Provide customers with quality experiences, establishing and maintaining effective relationships, demonstrating customer service orientation.
  • Lead and manage a team of materials management and supply chain professionals, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience in an operations leadership position
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years’ experience in a purchasing position (or related experience in manufacturing, product engineering or machine shop quality).
  • College degree (BA - business, materials, or engineering)
  • MBA preferred.
  • Must have negotiating experience.

  • Must be highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize several distinct functions, establish levels of responsibility, delegate appropriate authority and review the work and performance of team members in a manner conductive to efficient performance and high morale.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand comprehensive reports, forecasts, estimates and budgets.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficient with MRP systems (JD Edwards preferred, but not required)

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
  • Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
  • General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
  • Must be able to work with all departments, have good communication and organizational skills, provide support to all other departments and acts as the primary interface between Viking Pump, Inc. and its suppliers.
  • Will work closely with Subsidiaries, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, Distribution, Purchasing, Sourcing and Accounting
