Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate freight carriers for inbound and outbound shipments
    • Track shipment schedules and maintain communication with carriers and suppliers
    • Prepare and provide freight estimates and transportation details to the sales team
    • Work with purchasing to schedule delivery of incoming materials and components
    • Maintain records of shipments and logistics activities
    • Assist in maintaining accurate tracking of chassis inventory and movement
    • Coordinate customer pickups and deliveries
    • Support yard operations when necessary to ensure efficient material flow
    • Assist with other logistics or administrative duties as required

Qualifications

The Materials & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound freight, supporting material delivery scheduling, and managing chassis logistics to ensure on-time delivery to customers. This role works closely with sales, purchasing, suppliers, carriers, and customers to quote freight, schedule shipments, and improve transportation efficiency. The position also provides backup support for yard operations when necessary.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure timely delivery and receipt of materials and finished goods
    • Work with sales to provide freight quotes and shipping details for customer orders
    • Schedule and coordinate inbound shipments with suppliers and purchasing
    • Manage chassis logistics including receiving, tracking, and shipment coordination
    • Communicate with customers and carriers to coordinate pickup and delivery schedules
    • Maintain on-time delivery performance and monitor shipment status
    • Identify opportunities to reduce freight costs by working with corporate logistics teams and suppliers
    • Assist with receiving chassis and large yard items as needed
    • Provide backup support for yard organization and material movement during call-offs or operational needs
    • Operate yard equipment when required
    • Provide administrative support for purchasing and logistics activities as needed
