The Materials & Inventory Operations Lead is responsible for coordinating outside service materials and ensuring accuracy in work orders, inventory, and vendor transactions. This role supports production by maintaining proper documentation, monitoring order progress, and securing timely delivery of parts.
Requirements
We are searching for a candidate with:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years of experience in material coordination, inventory management, or supply chain.
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems (V9 experience a plus).
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with vendors and internal teams.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
- Lead cycle count programs and maintain strict inventory records and schedules
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including negative balances
- Review inventory levels and notify leadership of shortages or risks to production
- Support physical inventories across facilities and locations
- Run MRP processes and manage work order releases and closures
- Generate and close purchase orders for outside service products
- Verify parts before shipment to vendors and confirm accuracy upon return
- Track order progress and communicate status to stakeholders
- Coordinate pickups, deliveries, and processing timelines with external vendors
- Maintain documentation for parts sent to and received from outside processing
- Monitor turnaround time performance and support on-time delivery reporting
- Evaluate and improve stock rotation and storage practices
- Create space utilization strategies for warehouse and on-site inventory
- Review engineering masters and bills of materials to validate inventory structure
- Provide guidance to warehouse or stockroom staff on inventory procedures
- Promote adherence to health, safety, and compliance policies
- Support cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between inventory, production, and supply chain
