Veolia is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Materials Handling Operator to join and support our industrial services team on-site at Portland Aluminium. This critical role is located in Portland and involves being based directly at the Portland Aluminium Smelter to ensure the seamless operation and maintenance of vital machinery.
Maintaining and overseeing all plant and equipment onsite, and supporting the local Veolia branch.
Ensure that all plant and equipment is maintained to meet Veolia, safety, environmental and contractual obligations.
Work closely with the Operations team to ensure that all plant and equipment is optimised to full capability.
Use of our internal asset management system (VAMS).
Manage deliveries for stock & materials.
Work closely with the Planning and Scheduling team and external service providers to monitor and report on asset integrity and working conditions.
Conduct routine inspections to ensure all maintenance and service works are completed to reduce downtime.
Manage resources, tools and equipment to maintain operations including sufficient spares parts (stock control of critical components) for plant and equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical/mobile equipment in an industrial environment.
Current HR truck licence
A working knowledge and understanding of safety and environmental compliance.
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills.
Have a high regard for customer focus and safety.
Able to work unsupervised and use problem solving skills effectively.
Technical/trade qualifications are desirable.
