The Global Supply Chain team is looking for a Materials Expeditor Intern to support in our Huntsville, AL office during the summer. The Intern will be responsible for supporting the material supply chain on multiple programs within the Leidos Defense sector. The Intern will work with programs in tracking material requirements and providing the necessary support of acquisition plans from start to finish. The Intern will be interfacing with suppliers, logistics, receiving, and strategic sourcing to ensure program milestones are met. The most successful candidate will have a desire to be a part of a team, enjoy hard work, and learn on the job from a team of talented professionals.
In this role, the Intern will learn how Leidos is ensuring on-time delivery of critical material from a large pool of suppliers ranging from small to large across the continental United States and the impact this has on low and full rate manufacturing operations. The Intern will be exposed to the challenges of working with such a wide variety of suppliers and learn how to deal with schedule slips and supplier performance challenges. The Intern will see how the complex relationship between internal (requisitioners, supply chain, manufacturing, and production planning) and external stakeholders (suppliers and customers) impacts the success of a program. Lastly, the Intern will have a chance to work collaboratively on a Global Supply Chain project with other Supply Chain Interns and present the findings.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work closely with Material Project Manager and other functional teammates to include strategic sourcing, engineering, quality, and planning and control.
Ensure purchase orders are confirmed, deliveries are scheduled and maintained to meet production requirements.
Actively manage supplier relationships to help drive supplier performance and cultivate strong partnerships between Leidos and the supplier, with clear communication flowing both ways.
Work with Material Project Manager to identify and mitigate supplier risk.
Maintain reports and monitor material movement throughout manufacturing and inventory sequences.
Complete special projects with multi-functional teams.
Basic Qualifications:
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience including pivot tables, charts, v-lookups, and bar charts.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under tough time constraints.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum GPA of 3.0.
Ability to work out from Huntsville, AL.

Pay Range $41,600.00 - $75,200.00
