Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world. We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation.
Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.
As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Materials Engineer to support materials characterisation on our path to airworthiness certification. The role also involves materials selection, testing and analysis in a range of diverse applications, working throughout the entire product lifecycle from design to manufacturing to flight.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing and conducting the characterisation of materials
Conducting in-house testing as well as outsourcing to approved test houses
Providing detailed input into the design team to ensure that a design meets the requirements for functionality and manufacture; and advising on the application and selection of new materials in our products
Supporting the manufacturing team in the development and continuous improvement of production processes
Conducting and contributing to failure investigations
Developing data processing methodologies and tools, process materials data and manage the materials database
Creating test procedures for the verification of long-term materials integrity of our products
Working with the supply chain team to select and audit suppliers
Reporting and presentation of experiments and results to the wider team.
Skills and experience required:
Degree or equivalent in Materials Engineering or related discipline
Previous experience carrying out and supporting materials characterisation work, for example mechanical or thermal testing
Strong materials engineering background and ability to apply this knowledge to real-world situations
Previous experience working within a relevant industry, ideally aerospace or automotive
Knowledge of a wide range of materials and their manufacturing, including metals, polymers, composites, and adhesives
Creative problem solver, with an analytical approach to implementing solutions
Confident with customers and suppliers
A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
A 'self-starter' attitude with energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to thrive in a small business environment
Approachable and friendly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
UK driving license and ability to travel.
