About the Role:

The Technician Materials Distribution is responsible for the upkeep of the Kanban system. Requires constant monitoring of ordered supplies, and stock levels of items stocked in the hospital. Through strict adherence to the Kanban daily management system (DMS), the Technician insures the Kanban program functions efficiently by upholding standards, performing stocking of the Kanban on nodes, and addressing customer needs in a timely and precise manner. Resolves critical supply issues timely and escalating unresolved issues to the Supervisor.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Able to be trained and certified on the use of an electric pallet jack within 30 days of hire.

  • Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum Experience: One (1) year work experience in a field utilizing supply distribution systems and processes.

  • Able to recognize critical situations, communicate details and provide recommendations for resolution

  • Unrelentingly detail oriented, with the ability to multitask and prioritize work

  • Able to work individually with minimal supervision or as a team

  • Familiarity with MS Office applications: Outlook, Excel and Word

  • Possess technical skills to operate pc and hand-held devices

  • Possess interpersonal skills to interact with clinicians and other hospital personnel

  • Knowledge of medical supply terminology

  • Able to stand and sit for extended periods of time, crouch, push/pull, and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted (hospital environment – warehouse, clinical areas, etc.)

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Performs supply stocking in inventory locations and in supply units.

  • Maintains all aspects of the Kanban program through the use of the daily management system (DMS).

  • Creates and maintains strong relationships in clinical areas.

  • Upholds and follows standard work processes, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Sweeps, straightens and generally keeps work-spaces clean and tidy, adhering to the tenets of lean methodologies and 5S.

  • Participates in regular team huddles to ensure Kanban operations are meeting the needs of the end-user community and continuously improving.

  • Supports a safe working environment including compliance with all regulatory requirements and all other hospital, state, and federal safety policies.

  • Facilitates the distribution of received supplies to the appropriate storage areas within the inventory control room.

  • Conducts expiration date checks on all stock items.
