San Luis Valley Health is seeking a Materials Coordinator to join our Surgery department! The Materials Coordinator will provide clerical support and acquisition and dispensation of materials to the Peri-operative services. Daily purchase requisitions for supplies and maintenance of logs will be required.

What You'll Need:

  • High School or GED
  • Basic Life Support – American Heart Association required.
  • Computer and data entry skills
  • One year of previous equipment purchasing or peri-operative experience, preferred.

What You'll Do:

  • Daily order for stock/non stock items throughout the surgery department.
  • Deliver daily items to all areas and management of PAR levels with monitoring of expiration dates.
  • Manage and place order for all special requests by Surgeons (equipment, instruments, and implants).
  • Assures all equipment owned, leased, trialed is checked and approved by Biomed.
  • Generation of purchases orders/cost breakdown of items ordered.
  • Maintain/monitor implant logs, management of implant inventory.
  • Manage and log all repair items. Trouble shoot equipment, notify biomed with work orders, and work directly with vendors to assure needed repairs are made. Assure prompt repair/return, obtain loaner items.
  • Instrumentation ordering and maintenance for the department and assist as needed for other departments.
  • Close monitoring of supplies to assure timely delivery of items.
  • Able to research products for available options if regular items are unavailable.
  • Maintenance of charge master for surgery department, assist in the entry of department charges.
  • Assistance with records to assure proper/prompt reimbursement.
  • Coordinate in-services for equipment and instruments to assure proper training and use.
  • Monitoring of equipment and instruments to coordinate routine maintenance.
  • Communicates with all members of the healthcare team, in person and via telephone.
  • Assists physicians, and other surgery team members with provision of information and supplies.
  • Other assignments and duties as needed to assist the department to function.
