The materials coordinator is responsible for planning and maintaining inventory levels consistent with the needs of the capital construction projects and establishing and maintaining internal procedures for receiving, storing and issuing materials.
Plan and administer daily materials management activities at the central distribution centers (CDC) and regional field operations locations. Recommend warehouse operational and materials management improvements. Provide support to the emergency management response team, as required.
Assist in establishing and maintaining internal procedures for receiving, storing, shipping and issuing materials.
Coordinate investment recovery activities with surplus materials, equipment and obsolete inventories. Coordinate repairable material activities with procurement and field operations.
Responsible for coordinating inventory procurement activities in support of capital construction and operations projects. Assist with the physical inventories of materials and materials reconciliation to correct on-hand inventory balances. Work closely with field locations and operations to continually monitor and adjust supply levels by evaluating current operations, maintenance and capital project requirements. Coordinate material logistics to ensure that adequate supply levels are balanced throughout the pipeline system.
Responsible for creating item numbers for inventory materials and maintaining the item master. Assist in the development and maintenance of a database to associate essential assets with critical inventory repair parts.
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Associate’s degree in business or related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically two years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess an associate’s degree.)
Three to four years warehouse or related experience.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective PC skills including Word, Excel and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
Knowledge of construction terminology and engineering standards.
Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to recognize patterns in data, information and events to draw logical conclusions to make action recommendations and to review bids to make recommendations for purchase.
Administrative skills to explain, review and evaluate invoices, prepare necessary reports and document procurement transactions.
Project management, organizational and planning skills to plan workflow, coordinate projects, establish a plan of action to accomplish goals and resolve conflicting demands.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Some travel and overnight stays required.
