Job Description

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a motivated Materials Controlling Team Lead (f/m/d). In this role, you oversee the daily operations of the materials and inventory management team.

What we’re looking for

Education Completed Leaving Certificate and a Degree in Supply Chain or Business Management or a related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in materials management, inventory control, or warehouse operations.

  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.

  • Proficiency with inventory management software and systems; knowledge of ERP systems is preferred.

  • Basic understanding of purchasing and supply chain principles.

  • Knowledge of GMP, GLP, and Health and Safety Authority regulations.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.

  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing, warehousing, or logistics environment.

  • Strong organisational skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.

  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean or Six Sigma, is desirable.

  • CPR and First Aid training are preferred.

  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and forward-thinking.

How you will thrive and create an impact  

  • Supervise daily activities of the materials team, including receiving, storing, and distributing materials and equipment.

  • Ensure inventory accuracy by managing stock levels, conducting regular cycle counts, and performing inventory audits.

  • Lead efforts to streamline materials processes and improve operational efficiency.

  • Coordinate with procurement, warehouse staff, and production teams to meet material demand and minimise delays.

  • Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to materials management, such as inventory turns, material accuracy, and order fulfilment rates.

  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure adherence to safety and compliance regulations (e.g., Health and Safety Authority, GxP).

  • Assist with the resolution of inventory discrepancies, investigating root causes, and implementing corrective actions.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and mentor team members to encourage personal and professional growth.

  • Facilitate training and development opportunities for the materials team to ensure compliance with safety, operational, and quality standards.

  • Support the coordination of logistics activities, including shipping and receiving, to ensure on-time delivery of materials.

  • Provide regular reports and updates to management on material flow, inventory levels, and operational challenges.

  • Act as a liaison between warehouse operations, suppliers, and internal departments to ensure smooth material handling processes.
