Job Description

Job TitleMaterials Analyst

Materials Analyst role provides high visibility and an opportunity to employ critical thinking in a fast-paced, highly automated environmentSpecifically, you will deploy inventory strategies; assume daily management of supply and constraints, status reporting and escalation to meet customer and production demands.

Responsibility:

  • Interface with customers and suppliers regarding customer and production demands 

  • Use customer and Linamar systems to analyze customer releases. 

  • Plans, prepares, issues, and controls production schedules and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of materials timed to meet production needs, ensure on-time deliveries to customers, and effectively/efficiently use resources. 

  • Reviews, tracks, and coordinates changes to the schedule to ensure customer deliveries are on time and the plant is level loaded. 

  • Works closely with Production Management to optimize use of resources. 

  • Communicates effectively with Customer Service coordinator on any delays affecting on-time delivery. 

  • Order materials from suppliers. Determine type and quantity of materials and components required to maintain Production schedules. 

  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure that the company’s supply needs are adequately met in a timely manner

  • Work with Materials Manager to optimize min/max inventory levels of finished, WIP and raw materials. 

  • In a timely manner escalate to the Materials Manager and/or corporate buyer in the event of material availability issues which would impact production. 

  • Develop recovery and contingency material plan in order to support customer requirements. 

  • Perform inventory cycle counts with specific attention toward root cause analysis of inventory deviations working with the team to implement corrective actions. 

  • Assist in physical inventory. 

  • Review engineering changes and make effective date / change timing recommendations to avoid obsolescence.

  • Participate in APQP activities for new programs

  • Production Planning

  • ERP Systems Supervision

  • Administrative Assistance

  • Material Analytics

  • Warehouse planning and implementation

  • Dunnage Management

  • Proxy to Material Planner

  • Other Assigned Tasks as Needed

Academic/Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management, or related field or combination of education/relevant work experience.

  • 1- 3 years materials/production control experience. 

  • ERP experience required, PLEX or IFS experience preferred. 

  • Experience in working with MRP and other inventory systems. 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Competent in working with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 

  • Committed to continuous improvement and learning. 

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written - ability to deal with individuals at different levels within the organization. 

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
