We are currently seeking Material Support Team Associates to join our Power Grids division and perform handling of parts to support the manufacture of world-class liquid-filled transformers for the distribution & power transformer markets within our South Boston, VA facility.

Under general supervision, you will be expected to follow specific directions to perform tasks in Receiving. Assignments may include but are not limited to:

  • Perform duties in a manner fully compliant with prevailing safety and quality procedures and policies. Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Operate various types of cranes and fork trucks to aid in material handling, and maintain all required paperwork, records, check sheets, etc.
  • Unload all raw materials promptly and safely, inspect, label and store accordingly.
  • Accurately perform computer transaction for receipt of materials.
  • Determine and reconcile variances in materials received and appropriate purchase orders.
  • Monitor accuracy of the inventory system to meet manufacturing needs. Perform cycle counts of all inventory and reconcile variances.
  • Kit parts and deliver to appropriate areas for all product lines per kit and material lists.
  • Continually monitor quality of work, addressing and resolving inquiries and problems.
  • Participate in continuous improvements initiatives.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and group discussions.
  • Interface with other departments to accurately communicate information.
  • Must be willing to cross train in multiple skills and become skilled in ABB computer applications (schedules, purchase orders, MRP, drawings, material issues, etc.).
  • Assist in the training of other employees.
  • Must be a team player but able to work independently.
  • Available to work overtime as required including weekends.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned by management.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School degree or GED equivalent required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Have or obtain qualifications to operate material handling equipment such as cranes, standup fork-trucks, rider fork-trucks, and may include a 20-ton forklift and yard tractor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous material handling / warehouse experience is desirable.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Have or be able to quickly acquire skills in SAP data entry in all receiving and inventory control transactions.
