Material Stager (Manufacturing)

The Material Stager supports manufacturing operations by ensuring the right materials are delivered to production lines at the right time to maintain continuous workflow. This role partners closely with Production Supervisors and operators to minimize downtime, maintain a clean/organized environment, and prepare upcoming shifts for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stage raw materials, components, and packaging to assigned production lines based on schedule and priority
  • Monitor production needs and proactively replenish materials to prevent line interruptions
  • Prepare upcoming shifts by ensuring a minimum of 2+ hours of runtime inventory is staged and ready
  • Remove scrap, recyclables, and waste; replace containers and maintain proper labeling
  • Return unused materials to designated storage areas and maintain accurate organization
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment aligned with 5S standards
  • Identify and eliminate safety risks (e.g., loose banding, clutter, blocked walkways)
  • Support material movement using pallet jacks, forklifts, or other handling equipment
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Lean, SMED, Preventive Maintenance, GMP)
  • Collaborate with production teams and communicate schedule changes or material constraints in real time
  • Perform additional production or logistics-related duties as assigned

  • Zero material-related production downtime attributable to staging gaps
  • 100% on-time material staging aligned to production schedule
  • Maintain clean, hazard-free workspaces (5S audit readiness)
  • Accurate material flow (no misplaced or unaccounted materials)
  • Effective shift handoff with full readiness for incoming team

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read work orders, schedules, and production instructions
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication across production and leadership teams
  • Ability to perform physical work including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience in manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment
  • 1+ year experience operating forklifts or material handling equipment
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or 5S practices

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels (PPE required)
  • Frequent lifting (10–50 lbs; team lift over 50 lbs)
  • Repetitive lifting of 25–35 lbs
  • Movement of heavy materials using equipment:
    • Rolls: 400–1000 lbs (rolled on diameter)
    • Skids: up to 2,500 lbs via pallet jack or forklift
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and material handling
