Design of multilayer packaging materials is a key engineering area within Tetra Pak. At Materials Solutions in Tetra Pak’s Development & Technology organization we design materials for our customers’ current and future needs. Identifying and defining important and relevant material properties and defining the architecture for future packaging materials are the core tasks of future packaging material developments. Now we also increase our expertise in innovative products based on end-of-life materials from our packages.
As our new Material Specialist, you will be part of a team of material specialists working in Materials Solutions.
You are up to date in your specialist field and prepared to drive Tetra Pak questions in your research field, polymer, internally across Tetra Pak, but also externally together with collaboration partners, suppliers, universities, and institutes.
You will be responsible for creating technical knowledge in areas related to material recycling, sustainable packaging materials and packaging material functionality. You are expected to propose and promote your ideas within Tetra Pak, while driving development both internally and externally.
The position is based in Lund, but you will work in a global arena. Some travelling is required.
Main responsibilities
The successful candidate has an educational background with a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering, a PhD within polymer chemistry or polymer technology or a degree in mechanical engineering with polymer processing focus.
A working experience of 6-10 years is necessary, preferably from polymer or chemical industry or within thermoplastic materials & composites. Experience from working in the packaging industry and with development of recycling of polymeric materials is advantageous.
You are experienced in working with material development, both theoretically and practically, leading development activities in lab and pilot environment, with both internal and external partners. You are also experienced in supporting commercial production.
You have a good knowledge in polymer structure - properties – processing relationships.
We believe that you are a team player, a clear communicator and good at building effective relationships with internal and external partners. You are also a structured person who gets things done in an agile work environment, capable of moving ahead without having all data at hand.
You naturally take initiatives and can coach and develop others. In addition, you have the interest and ability to handle the big picture at the same time as you are interested and knowledgeable in technical details.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is a must.
As a person you are curious, creative, collaborative and solution oriented.
