Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for performing material handling operations, minor maintenance on plant equipment, and such duties including but not limited to:

  • Ensuring proper startup and operations of transfer system (i.e. – conveyors, crushers, etc.) and mobile equipment.
  • Operate various types of heavy equipment (including but not limited to wheeled/tracked bull-dozers, wagon scrapers, front end loaders, tool carriers, water tankers, etc.) to perform coal pile activities.
  • Ensuring proper startup, operation of the balance of material unloading and handling equipment.
  • Ensuring proper Lockout Tagout (LOTO) Energy Control procedures are performed as directed.
  • Collection and processing of coal samples.
  • Inspecting and cleaning material handling areas and equipment.
  • Changing oil and lubricating equipment.
  • Correcting equipment problems and performing minor maintenance activities.
  • Performing preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Completing log entries as directed and all other necessary documentation for work assignments performed.
  • Performing and successfully completing the items set forth in the Material Services Team Member job duty checklist within the time specified in the job duty checklist.
  • Using computer applications where appropriate.
  • Completing all training and testing requirements of the job.
  • Perform similar or lesser skilled work as directed.

Requirements:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of environments including hot, cold, damp, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to climb and work from a ladder or scaffold.
  • Must have a cooperative temperament in a team environment.
  • Must be able to receive and clearly transmit orders and instructions in such a way as to obtain cooperation and satisfactory work results from others.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of this job classification through the medium of tests.
  • Must pass the POSS/MASS pre-employment assessment.
