Material Qualification Lead & Special Projects

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Management leader with experience in the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) industry to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in supporting material qualification initiatives, managing end-of-life transitions, driving process improvements, and ensuring the highest standards of quality across our supply chain and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a cross-functional environment and is passionate about continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Material Qualification

Lead and coordinate material qualification projects for PCB raw materials in accordance with established qualification plans.

  • Review, analyze, and interpret test reports and qualification data to determine material acceptability.
  • Maintain comprehensive qualification records and ensure compliance with internal and customer specifications.
  • Work through UL planning and UL database management

End of Life (EOL) Tracking

  • Monitor and manage End-of-Life (EOL) notifications for components, materials, and processes used in PCB manufacturing.
  • Work with TTM Purchasing and sites to develop and execute mitigation strategies including last-time buys, alternative sourcing, and design or material substitutions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date EOL tracking database and communicate status to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.

Supply Chain & Supplier Interface

  • Serve as the primary quality liaison between internal supply chain personnel and external suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier quality reviews, audits, and performance evaluations to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.

Process Change Notice (PCN) Management

  • Drive process changes within the Product/Process Change Notice (PCN) workflow, ensuring all changes are properly documented, evaluated, and approved.
  • Assess the impact of supplier- or internally-initiated process changes on product quality and customer requirements.
  • Maintain PCN project logs and coordinate cross-functional reviews to ensure timely disposition and closure.

Customer Notification & Follow-Up

  • Coordinate customer notifications related to material changes, EOL activities, PCNs, and quality events in accordance with customer-specific requirements.
  • Manage follow-up communications and ensure customer approvals or acknowledgments are obtained and documented.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for customer quality inquiries, fostering strong relationships built on transparency and responsiveness.

Quality Systems and Special Project Implementation

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of Quality Management System (QMS) processes and procedures.
  • Ensure alignment with applicable industry standards (e.g., IPC, ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949) and customer-specific quality requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, supporting audit readiness and corrective action follow-through.

Training Systems

  • Establish and maintain training programs related to quality processes, procedures, and standards for internal teams and suppliers.
  • Develop training materials, work instructions, and competency assessments to ensure consistent understanding and execution of quality requirements.
  • Track training completion and effectiveness, making improvements as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • 8 or more years of materials and specifications experience in the PCB, electronics or related manufacturing industry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical specifications, qualification plans, and test reports.

Strong knowledge and experience with with PCB materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards (e.g., IPC-A-600, IPC-6012, IPC-2221).

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing deadlines; PMP certification or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Proficiency in collecting, organizing, and analyzing quality data using tools such as Excel, Minitab, or equivalent statistical software.
  • Multi-Site Coordination: Experience coordinating quality activities across geographically distributed manufacturing or supply chain sites.
  • Qualification Plans & Test Reports: Strong ability to develop, review, and execute qualification plans and critically evaluate test report data.
  • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning): Working knowledge of APQP methodologies, including control plans, PFMEA, and production part approval process (PPAP).
  • ERP/QMS Systems: Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and quality management systems is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

Benefits are available 1st of the month following date of hire.

Compensation for roles at TTM Technologies varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set and level of experience. As required by local law, TTM provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in New York, California and Colorado. For California-based roles, compensation ranges are based upon specific physical locations.
