Objective of the position:
Lead and oversee a team of Material Planners and a Supplier Management Specialist, this role is responsible for leading day-to-day operations, including material planning, demand forecasting, and inventory management to ensure uninterrupted plant operations. Key responsibilities include resolving supplier late shipments, reviewing, anticipating and mitigating parts shortages to the plants, managing supplier performance, and coordinating on-site support at supplier locations when needed. The position also ensure strong leadership to the planning team while driving effective supplier relationships and proactive problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Advanced Data Analysis and Spend Analytics (including proficiency in tools like Excel, IMS, material
  • Ability to maximize supplier on behalf of Daimler with suppliers that are past in shipments, strive for 0
  • Provide direction to suppliers on ship mode, part priorities for shipping, directing which plants to ship to,sharing inventory across network, including PDCs, to minimize impact
  • Present at daily Ops call to Executive Management, present on on-site accomplishments of SMS and problem solving of complex supplier past situations
  • Establish presence on-site at suppliers, establishing DTNA priority for supply, capacity, and resources
  • Develop vision and plan for finding efficiencies within DTNA's portfolio of planning and supplier management tools, including establishment of Palantir and other new apps.

Main Functions:

-Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Material Planners and Supplier Management Specialist, setting clear performance goals and ensuring high-quality daily execution of material planning and SMS activities. -Oversee production planning, demand forecasting, and inventory management to align material availability with heavy-duty truck manufacturing schedules.Monitor and optimize material flow to prevent production shortages, excess inventory, and schedule disruptions. -Utilize existing work tools, macros, reports, and systems to effectively understand past due status, impact of shortages (i.e line down situations, pulled trucks, offline rework, etc.), and effectively escalate and inform executive management in OPS calls daily. -Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for planning-related issues, ensuring continuous improvement in planning accuracy and timeliness. -Conduct regular team reviews, provide coaching, and support professional development to maintain a high-performing planning team. -Direct the Supplier Management Specialist in overseeing supplier performance, conducting evaluations, and managing supplier development initiatives.Ensure proper documentation and processes are in place for proactive work along with reactive work when needed. Ensure timely coordination of on-site support at supplier facilities when required, while driving corrective actions and relationship management for critical suppliers.Ensure proper containments and counter-measures are established.Develop root cause analysis and report out to executive management on progress -Take decisive action when critical suppliers fall behind schedule, including escalation, recovery plans, alternative sourcing support, and direct intervention to minimize impact on truck production lines.
