Senior Material Planner | Bolton / Ashton, UK

We are looking for an experienced Senior Material Planner to join our Supply Chain team, supporting our manufacturing operations in Bolton and Ashton.

This is an exciting opportunity for a supply chain professional who thrives on balancing demand, inventory, supplier performance, and operational requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role

As a Senior Material Planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring material availability across multiple manufacturing sites while optimizing inventory levels and working capital.

You will work closely with Operations, Demand Planning, Category Management, Suppliers, and our Global Capability Centre (GCC) to anticipate supply risks, improve planning processes, and maintain service excellence.

What You Will Be Doing

• Develop and execute short, medium, and long-term material supply plans
• Ensure material availability to support production and customer delivery requirements
• Identify supply risks, material shortages, and capacity constraints before they impact operations
• Drive inventory optimization, reducing excess and obsolete stock while maintaining service levels
• Maintain and improve site-wide inventory forecasts
• Partner with Demand Planning and Production Planning teams to align supply with changing business needs
• Build strong supplier relationships and support supplier performance improvement initiatives
• Share forecasts and demand outlooks to improve supplier visibility and capacity planning
• Facilitate regular supplier reviews focused on service, continuity, and future demand requirements
• Manage and improve planning master data including lead times, safety stock, and planning parameters
• Support new product introductions and material-related continuous improvement initiatives
• Standardize and continuously improve processes performed by the Global Capability Centre (GCC)
• Support supplier onboarding, qualification, and development activities
• Contribute to supply chain resilience, operational efficiency, and working capital improvements

What We Are Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in Material Planning, Supply Planning, Buying, or Supply Chain roles within a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of inventory management, forecasting, and supply planning principles
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems
• Proven supplier management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• High level of attention to detail and data accuracy
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities across a complex manufacturing operation
