About LUMILENS
At Lumilens we are building the critical photonics infrastructure that powers tomorrow’s AI supercomputing. From chip-to-chip optical interconnects to scalable photonic engines, Lumilens is unlocking a new era of computing - faster, cooler, and massively more efficient.
We’re a well-funded startup backed by Mayfield and led by veterans who’ve built and scaled some of the most transformative technologies in the industry. At Lumilens, we’re developing high-speed photonics products purpose-built to power the future of AI infrastructure and high-performance computing.
This isn’t incremental innovation, it’s a ground-floor opportunity to rethink the optical layer from the silicon up. You’ll work alongside a team of world-class engineers solving some of the hardest challenges in scaling optical systems. If you're looking for mission, momentum, and the chance to make an outsized impact, jump on the rocket ship. We’re just getting started.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Material Planner to execute day-to-day material planning and procurement activities that keep prototype, pilot, and production builds on schedule. This role owns the tactical, hands-on work of running MRP, placing and tracking purchase orders, monitoring supplier deliveries, and flagging shortages — turning the material plans set by the Planning Manager into concrete, on-time execution. This is an execution-focused role, distinct from the Planning Manager, who owns overall material strategy and cross-functional planning.
Key Responsibilities
Material Planning & Execution
Run MRP and translate net requirements into purchase orders and supplier releases.
Place, track, and expedite purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery against build schedules.
Monitor open PO status daily, following up directly with suppliers/CM partners on delayed or at-risk shipments.
Maintain accurate system data for lead times, order quantities, safety stock levels, and delivery dates.
Inventory Management
Monitor daily inventory levels against safety stock and consumption plans.
Flag excess, aging, or at-risk (expiring/obsolete) inventory to the Planning Manager.
Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy reconciliation.
Shortage & Exception Management
Identify and escalate material shortages that put build schedules at risk.
Coordinate with suppliers and CM partners to resolve delivery exceptions and expedite critical shipments.
Maintain a shortage/exception tracker and provide daily/weekly status updates.
Cross-Functional Support
Work with the Planning Manager to align material orders with updated build plans and forecasts.
Support engineering change implementation by updating orders/quantities affected by BOM changes.
Coordinate with logistics/warehouse teams on receiving, inspection, and staging of incoming materials.
Reporting
Maintain PO tracker and delivery status reports for build readiness reviews.
Report on delivery, shortage, and inventory metrics to the Planning Manager.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of materials planning fundamentals, including master data management, order policy, bill of material control, planning release, and fulfillment execution.
Proficiency with MRP and ERP systems used to support complex manufacturing and supply planning processes.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, mathematics, and statistics.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment.
