Job Description

The Material Handling Methods Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing material distribution and flow systems in all Complex. The Methods engineer drives continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining processes and eliminating waste to enhance operational efficiency Key responsibilities include managing returnable containers, developing racks, implementing Kanban systems, and maintaining inventory control using FIFO principles. The role also involves leading capital projects related to material handling equipment, collaborating with external logistics to optimize transportation routes, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations in material storage and handling.

Key Activities: 

  • Material Handling Engineering to problem solving material distribution and material flow.
  • Implementing Kanban systems for assortment of materials in their various forms, method of selection of small containers, large containers and parts supplied by sequence.
  • Application engineering in racks developing and returnable containers during preconceptions processes, prototyping, testing and manufacturing.
  • Elaboration of all capital projects plan that affect operations and material handling equipment, rental mobile, unloading ramps, etc.
  • Manage and control scrap.
  • Administration of the CMS (Container Management System).
  • Administration of Damage Product (DP).
  • Report norm 092 wood, cardboard and garbage.
  • Ensure supply empty (return of containers and receipt of materials).
  • Implementation of slender manufacturing concepts in material handling operations
  • Stores control to identify maximum and minimum levels of inventory.
  • Internal layout CMA (Central of Material Areas).
  • Defining Paths for the assortment of materials inside.
  • Improvement of gaps, analysis according to the classification of parts suggested by SPW.
  • Equipment optimization.
  • Analysis of packaging equipment to reduce or eliminate material damage by containerization.
  • Teamwork with external logistics to improve transportation routes.
  • Improve the material’s internal logistics.
  • Program of the preventive maintenance equipment.
  • Planning, manufacture and installation of material handling facilities such as platforms of discharge, tables of assortment, carts sequence, platforms of assortment, conveyors, etc.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in material planning, logistics, or supply chain in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems, MRP processes, and inventory management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with production, engineering, procurement, and logistics teams.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry with high-mix/low-volume production environments.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience with Just-In-Time (JIT), Kanban, or pull systems in material handling.
  • Strong understanding of import/export regulations and international logistics.
  • Working knowledge of engineering change processes and product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through high-pressure situations such as launch phases or critical shortages.
  • Advanced Excel skills or proficiency in data analysis tools like Power BI or Tableau.
