This position assists and supports others in a department, subdivision, function or project. The position relies primarily on established policies, procedures, and applicable work practices to make decisions as they apply to the job duties and responsibilities

The Mechanical Associate Designer I/II will work on BMH Conveyers design and detailed Engineering.

Operating under detailed instructions and review, the purpose of this position is to provide the essential technical knowledge and perform the work listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Virta/Fluor's competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. The purpose of this position is to work on drawings of routine scope to support the Design Area Lead or Lead.

Key Accountabilities
• Prepare and develop material handling system deliverables, including equipment flow diagrams, plot plans, conveyor routing, transfer towers, and coordinate finalization.
• Produce design deliverables such as 2D/3D models, manufacturing drawings, and assembly drawings.
• Review customer specifications and evaluate their impact on equipment design.
• Coordinate technical inputs and collaborate with global teams to meet project schedules and deliverables.
• Support job sites, vendors, clients, fabrication shops, and manufacturing facilities, including troubleshooting activities as required.
• Assist in the development and continuous improvement of design standards, specifications, guides, and design control procedures.
• Participate effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering and design team environment.

Technical Competencies
• Strong knowledge of bulk material handling systems and mechanical design fundamentals.
• Proficiency in equipment layout, conveyor routing, transfer towers, and related design requirements.
• Knowledge of drawing standards, material handling standards, and standard steel fabrication practices.
• Basic understanding of interdisciplinary requirements, including Structural and Electrical Engineering interfaces.
• Ability to apply relevant local, national, and international codes, standards, and guidelines.
• Strong technical knowledge required to execute assigned engineering and design activities.

Basic Job Requirements

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• 4–6 years of experience in the design and development of bulk material handling conveyor systems.

• MicroStation and Tekla (added advantage)
• Microsoft Office tools
