SUPERVISES:             n/a                                                        STATUS:    Temporary, Non-Exempt
Mission Contribution:
Helps with the flow of goods through the bargain store and salvage departments to minimize waste and maximize profits that help to create jobs and fund services to the community.
Function:
Contribute to the overall effectiveness of Donated Goods by remaining cross-trained on all aspects of the salvage operations and performing all other task as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Operates the textile baler after equipment training is received.
Bundles an average of 9 Bales daily and transports completed bales to shipping area using forklift vehicle.
Notify supervisor when necessary to order bailing supplies, or when bailing machine needs service/repair.
Assists route drivers with loading and unloading of bins and totes.
Stack pallets; arrange materials as directed, while adhering to safety guidelines.
Assist in shoveling loose household debris from around the outside dumpster and compactor on a daily basis or as needed.
Transfer material from storage to the baler and the Bargain store production area.
Assists the Bargain Store associates as needed.
Observes safety procedures and personnel policies.
Regular attendance is required as outlined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills, knowledge and abilities:
Must be forklift certified or get such certifications within 14 days of hire.
Must be able to interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.
Must be able to market Goodwill and explain the mission to the general public.
Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English – enough to keep logs updated.
Must be able to keep information confidential.
Must establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisor and co-workers.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
Must be a hands-on person who knows what needs to be done and has a strong sense of ownership and is able to complete task with a “get things done” attitude.
Must be proactive in nature and operate with a sense of urgency, focus and discipline.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Experience and Education Requirements:
High School diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
Prior experience working in a warehouse environment preferred.
Prior forklift experience in a warehouse environment preferred..
Physical Requirements:
Ability to engage in frequent bending, stretching, stooping, and prolonged standing, walking and twisting.
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. frequently, 75lbs. regularly, and 100+ lbs. with assistance occasionally.
Ability to push equipment on wheels weighing 50 lbs. to 150 lbs.
Ability to use fingers, hands and wrists, repetitively.
Working Conditions:
Considerable physical exertion.  Exposure to soiled and damaged donated goods materials.  Exposure to a variety of weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, etc.).

Position Details:
Duration: Temporary positions for up to 90 days
Path to Permanent Employment:
These roles are intended to become regular positions after 90 days. Conversion is expected as long as work performance, work ethic, and cultural fit meet expectations.
