Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Material Handler Class I, where you will skillfully operate motorized industrial equipment to efficiently manage materials throughout the facility. This role involves loading and unloading trucks, transporting goods, and ensuring timely replenishment of picking locations to support streamlined warehouse operations.

Primary Duties

  • Safely operate various motorized industrial equipment, including sit-down forklifts, stock pickers, and reach trucks, to move and organize inventory within the warehouse environment.
  • Conduct thorough daily inspections of equipment prior to use to ensure operational safety and maintain equipment in optimal condition.
  • Adhere strictly to all standard operating procedures and company policies to maintain a secure and efficient work environment.
  • Utilize hand-held or truck-mounted radio frequency (RF) scanners for accurate inventory tracking and location verification.
  • Consistently comply with all safety regulations and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize workplace risks.
  • Maintain meticulous records and documentation related to material handling tasks and equipment usage, supporting accurate reporting and accountability.
  • Follow detailed work order instructions to complete assignments promptly and in accordance with operational priorities throughout the facility.
  • Perform assigned duties with attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring quality control and supporting overall warehouse productivity.
  • Participate in ongoing training and team meetings to contribute to continuous improvement and best practices within the department.
  • Undertake additional tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative approach to meet business needs.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully pass the motorized industrial equipment proficiency test and obtain required licensing to operate equipment safely.
  • Willingness and capability to rotate through various positions and job functions as required, supporting versatile operational demands.
  • Active participation in department meetings and projects, showing initiative and contributing to team goals.
  • Commitment to meet or exceed safety protocols, accuracy standards, productivity goals, and housekeeping expectations consistently.
  • Strong ability to comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions, ensuring effective communication and task execution.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Solid math skills applicable to inventory counting, measuring, and other warehouse-related calculations.
  • Demonstrated reliability through timely and regular attendance, with flexibility to work overtime as necessary to support operational needs.
  • Physical capability to safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 45 pounds, supporting physically demanding tasks within the role.
  • Adaptability to work in an environment that involves regular reaching, swiveling, carrying items, and effective communication, often in moderate noise settings.

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent General Education Development (GED) certification preferred.
  • One to three months of related experience or formal training in material handling or warehouse operations is advantageous.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered, emphasizing practical skills and safety competence.
