Job Description:

Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of materials in both receiving, shipping and staging for manufacturing and operations and/or parts fulfillment. This position ensures inventory integrity, supports production and fulfillment needs, and maintains a clean and organized work environment. The role requires attention to detail, ERP system proficiency, and effective communication with internal teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Receiving Operations

  • Receive packages from carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL, LTL) and internal fabrication team.
  • Open, unpack and inspect materials to verify part numbers, quantities and item accuracy related to purchase orders.
  • Process receipts in ERP system and update inventory records.
  • Run reports including MO shortage, FS shortage, best bin, and special locations.
  • Transport items to/from fabrication and assembly as needed.
  • Transport materials to/from local outside services or vendors.
  • Sanitize incoming parts by removing OEM identifiers (i.e. stickers, plates, etc.) for Aftermarket.
  • Label parts with internal identifiers.
  • Coordinate with supply chain/purchasing to resolve discrepancies such as incorrect part, quantity issues, damaged goods or purchase order holds.
  • Stock, stage and maintain inventory/bin items in an accurate, efficient and orderly manner.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts.

Shipping/Picking Operations

  • Pick materials for assembly or parts fulfillment, ensuring timely delivery:
  • Verify location, quantity and item accuracy, reconcile differences.
  • Resolve any picking issues.
  • Present parts and materials for assembly in organized manner.
  • Process inventory transactions in ERP system.
  • Pack items for shipment:
  • Select appropriate packaging (box, pallet, skid, crate).
  • Build crates/boxes as required.
  • Pack and secure materials for LTL or parcel shipping.
  • Process shipments in ERP system.
  • Complete shipping documentation including destination labels, bills-of-lading and commercial invoices.
  • Determine and schedule shipping method (CIP, Ex Works, Domestic, International).
  • Communicate with customer, project management or customer service reps for international documentation.
  • For parts fulfillment, monitor shipping in-box for updates, early picks, and missing information.
  • For equipment, coordinate with assembly team for outgoing shipments.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase workflow optimization, efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Adhere to standard processes and practices.
  • Deliver on order quality by ensuring all parts and equipment orders are accurate and packaged for safe delivery.
  • Work closely with planning, supply chain and other production team members to resolve issues.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing required PPE, and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Other

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of warehouse or material handling experience preferred.
  • Basic computer and technology skills, familiarity with ERP systems and inventory processes.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and maintain clean driving record, if required to drive Company vehicles.
  • Forklift certification required.

Physical Demands (Essential Functions)

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 60 pounds, alone or with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist and reach (above and below shoulder level).
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders to access materials.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to handle, grip, and manipulate materials and tools.
  • Ability to read information on screens, documents, and presentations and to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, and phone.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts).
  • Works in a warehouse/manufacturing environment that may involve temperature changes, noise, and moving equipment.
