About this position: Material Handler Location – Anchorage, AK

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments of radios, antennas, networking equipment, IT hardware, cabling, tools, and government-procured materials — check against purchase orders, packing slips, and specifications for damage, quantity, and quality.
  • Load and unload trucks, vans, and deliveries using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or manual lifting.
  • Pick, pull, kit, and stage materials for service calls, installations, deployments, or government contracts (e.g., preparing kits for Land Mobile Radio systems or ALMR network support).
  • Put away and organize inventory, ensuring proper storage for sensitive electronics and easy retrieval.
  • Perform shipping tasks — pack, label, and prepare outgoing shipments for field teams, customers, or military locations; create shipping documentation.
  • Assist with inventory control tasks such as cycle counts, stock reconciliation, serial number tracking (critical for government/comms equipment), and report discrepancies or shortages.
  • Support logistics by delivering or coordinating transport of equipment to job sites or technicians; assist with returns to vendors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow 5S principles and handle hazardous materials (e.g., batteries, electronics) per regulations.
  • Document all transactions accurately in inventory systems or logs to support compliance with government contracting requirements.
  • Assist with general shop tasks such as equipment preparation or rental radio inventory support.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: High school diploma required.
  • Level of Experience Requirements: 1+ years of material handling or warehouse experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (for roles involving vehicle use).
  • Ability to pass background checks (common for government-related work).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, reach trucks, electric/manual pallet jacks, and hand carts.
  • Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, inventory databases) and familiarity with RF scanners or barcode systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and safety focus.
  • Careful handling of delicate electronics, antennas, and communications gear.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Preferred

  • Forklift certification (can be provided).
  • Experience in telecommunications, IT hardware, or government contracting environments.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.

  • Must be able to regularly lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50+ lbs.

Physical Setting: Warehouse/office hybrid environment in Anchorage.

Schedule and Flexibility: Standard daytime hours with occasional flexibility required for urgent shipments or project support.

Other Pertinent Work Details: Emphasis on accuracy, security, and compliance due to mission-critical communications for military, government, emergency services, and commercial clients. Occasional exposure to cold climate conditions.

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
