Salary Range: $18.50 - $35.70 Hourly
Position Summary
The Material Handler I is responsible for supporting Production Control, material picking/handling, and receiving functions within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate tracking, storage, and movement of materials while maintaining compliance with quality and traceability requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory of aerospace parts, components, and materials
- Perform cycle counts and support physical inventory audits
- Track part numbers, lot numbers, and serial numbers to ensure full traceability
- Support receiving operations by verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders and documentation
- Accurately enter inventory and receiving transactions into SAP
- Store and organize materials in designated locations following proper handling procedures
- Issue materials to production and support kitting operations as needed
- Identify, report, and help resolve inventory discrepancies or non-conforming materials
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of inventory areas
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including procurement, quality, and production
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- - Additional coursework or certification in supply chain, logistics, or related field is a plus
- 1–3 years of experience in inventory, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred
- Familiarity with receiving, picking, kitting, and material handling processes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to read and interpret part numbers, work orders, and documentation
- Basic computer skills (data entry, spreadsheets, inventory systems; SAP knowledge is a plus)
- Understanding of inventory control and traceability (lot/serial tracking is a plus)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Problem-solving skills and ability to identify discrepancies
Additional Desired
Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace or a regulated industry is a plus
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory transactions preferred
- Forklift certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
- OSHA safety training preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to lift and move materials (up to [insert weight, e.g., 25–50 lbs])
- Primarily a warehouse-based role within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Requires regular movement between office and production areas for coordination and material verification.
- Ability to sit, stand, and work on a computer for extended periods.
- May require extended hours or weekend support to meet schedule or delivery commitments.
- Work performed in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with moderate exposure to manufacturing noise and activity.
