Job Description

Safety-Kleen Buffalo, New York is seeking a Material Handler to join their safety conscious team! You will be responsible for completing all assigned duties in a safe and responsible manner. Work schedule during training is 8am - 4pm. Following training work hours will be 2pm-10pm; must be available to work overtime as needed.

  • Unload and reload bulk oil trucks and rail cars. ( ladder climbing required)
  • Prepare loads for shipment to refineries.
  • General housekeeping
  • Assist with inventory ( Oil, totes, drums)
  • Calculate volumes from gauge readings when loading and unloading tanks and trucks
  • Must have active, valid driver's license ( daily operation of yard vehicle)
  • 1st or 2nd City of Buffalo Boiler engineer license is helpful but not necessary.
  • Basic computer knowledge required
  • This position works outside for most of the shift in all weather

What does it take to work at Safety-Kleen?

  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Ability to work independently while managing time and productivity;
  • Ability to perform physical functions per job requirements;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Problem solving skills; Basic Math skills ( needed to calculate volumes from Guage readings for when loading and unloading tanks and trucks)
  • Ability to work with waste labels, manifests, and load sheets
  • Forklift experience ( Not Required but preferred; can train)
  • Experience with tankers (oil) loading and unloading, also will be sampling and unloading railcars ( preferred)
  • 1st or 2nd City of Buffalo Boiler engineer license is helpful but not necessary.
  • Basic computer knowledge required
